High Schools in Four States Piloting Program Designed to Bring American High Schools Up To Global Standards: High schools in Arizona, Connecticut, Kentucky and Mississippi are participating in a national pilot program that could result in basic changes in high school structure, curriculum, and testing throughout the country. The new program, Excellence for All (formerly the Board Examination Systems Program), is based on more than 20 years of research by the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) on those countries that routinely outperform the United States on international assessments of student performance. The National Center receives grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation to implement Board Examination System in Connecticut school. Click here and here for more information.
Four Board Examination Systems Certified for Use in Pilot Study: Proposals were evaluated by a State Review Panel, composed of representatives of the member states, by NCEE’s Technical Advisory Committee and by the National Center for the improvement of Educational Assessment. As a result of this process, four organizations were certified to offer their systems to pilot schools. Click here for an overview of the four certified organizations.
