| Dr. Patricia Harvey -- Before joining the Alliance, Harvey was Superintendent of Schools in St. Paul, Minnesota, where significant gains were made in the achievement of all student groups under her leadership. She has also been a teacher, principal, and Chief Accountability Officer of the Chicago Public Schools, where she was one the architects of a dramatic turnaround in the 1990s. Harvey also serves as the Visiting Carmen Starkeson Campbell Endowed Chair in Urban Education at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Susan Sclafani -- Prior to joining the Alliance, Sclafani served as Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education and Counselor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education. In those roles, Sclafani led new national initiatives to improve performance in math and science, promote high school redesign, and collaborate with countries and organizations in Asia and Europe. Sclafani has also served as the Chief Academic Officer of the Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Sclafani also serves as Managing Director of the Chartwell Education Group.
